Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2011 Undergoes Changes

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for 2011 has just been announced and will undergo number of changes. CLAT 2011 is scheduled to be held in May. This year, CLAT has tied up with the Indian post office to distribute the forms more widely to reach out to more students. The Brochure along with OMR Application Form will be sold at Rs. 150/- from different post offices throughout India and at the eleven National Law Universities.

As per sources, there will be no static GK questions such as ‘When did Humayun die?’ will be asked in the test. Only current affairs questions between April 2010 and April 2011 will be asked. In addition, students will not be tested for their legal knowledge. Only one’s legal aptitude and legal reasoning will be tested which means that a student will not have to study legal principles before taking the examination.

The IDIA project - a pan India student-movement that reaches out to marginalized groups and sensitises them to law as a career option (www.idialaw.com) is training students for CLAT. The IDIA team will not only be helping IDIA scholars to buy forms on their behalf, but also help them submit it. IDIA has decided to sponsor forms of all CLAT aspirants who may not be able to afford them.
